India vs England: Ashish Nehra Lauds Jofra Archer, Calls pacer ‘Number One’ Among Young Bowlers

Former India bowler Ashish Nehra heaped praise on England pacer Jofra Archer and believes the 25-year-old pacer is ‘number one’ among the young bowlers. Ever since Jofraburst into international cricket scene, the pacer is one of the most revered and intimidating bowlers, especially in Test cricket. Archer made headlines when he was bagged by Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 Indian Premier League auctions and since then, he has had a knack for bagging wickets furiously in nearly all formats of the game.

For the third Test in Ahmedabad, Root is expected to line up all three pacers in his attacking unit i.e. Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Archer. England’s bowling unit has caused troubles in the past and this particular trio could do a whole lot of damage.

Speaking on the upcoming Test which is being played in the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, Nehra believes that England have a strong line-up, especially when this particular pace trio are involved.

“Even if India sees a similar wicket like Chennai, England still has a strong line-up, the way Stuart Broad bowls leg cutters and bowls wicket to wicket; Jofra Archer bowls pace and bounce, Jimmy Anderson has experience with his swing and reverse swing,” said Nehra.

Till date, Archer has played 12 Tests, 17 ODIs and 7 T20Is for England. The youngster has flourished in Test and ODI cricket so far and has also claimed three five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. The 25-year old can do wonders with his pace and bounce and along with Anderson and Broad, England are going all in the third Test.

India host England in the third Test which will be a day-night ‘Pink Ball’ Test. Ishant Sharma will play his 100th Test match, joining former India captain Kapil Dev as the second Indian pacer to feature in 100 Test matches.

The India vs England third Test match will be played from February 24to February 28 from 2:30 PM IST onwards at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad.
