Coal mining scam: CBI team arrives at Mamata Banerjee’s nephew’s home in Kolkata | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on Tuesday arrived at Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee’s home in Kolkata to question his wife Rujira Banerjee in the alleged illegal coal mining scam.
Ahead of the CBI team’s arrival, West Bengal chief mister Mamata Banerjee had paid a visit to her nephew Abhishek’s home at Harish Mukherjee Road in Kolkata.

On Monday, Rujira Banerjee Naroola had told CBI that its officers could visit her at her Harish Mukherjee Road home the next day between 11 am and 3 pm.
Rujira had said that she “was unaware” of why she was being questioned and did not know the “subject matter” of the investigation.
The CBI on Sunday served Rujira and her sister, Gambhir, summons to question them in the illegal coal-mining case probe.
The agency had registered an FIR last November, mentioning six persons: prime suspect Anup Maji and five officials of a nationalised mining company.
Several other officials of a coal company, the CISF, the Railways and other departments were under suspicion, the CBI has said.
Raids were conducted, including at the home of Yuva Trinamool leader Vinay Mishra, over the last few months. Both Mishra and Maji are said to be absconding.
